ロッホ・メルフォート・ホテルは、環境に対する責任を果たすべく、環境フットプリントを最小化することを目的としたさまざまな持続可能な実践を開始しました。古いボイラーを木質ペレットボイラーに交換し、二酸化炭素排出量を大幅に削減したほか、配送頻度を最小限に抑えるために充実した木質ペレットストアを設置しました。また、「フードマイルズ」を減らすため、クローズドサイクルシステムを導入している農家から仕入れた地元産の野菜や、近隣のアーガイル島で獲れた魚介類を使用しています。廃棄物管理にも配慮し、詰め替え用ポンプを使用することでプラスチック廃棄物を大幅に削減し、低エネルギー電球を館内各所に設置しています。さらに、地元の湧水から直接水を供給し、新鮮な水を各部屋にお届けしています。有機リードベッド下水システムの利用、トイレの二重水洗貯水槽、古いリネンのリサイクルなど、環境対策に大きな進歩を遂げました。厨房から出る野菜くずは敷地内で堆肥化し、一般ゴミは自治体のガイドラインに従って分別しています。庭には様々な野生動物が生息し、ヤギやハイランド牛が草原を手入れしています。また、建築や修復の際には、地元の職人を起用し、地域社会への貢献にも努めています。さらに、最近、ホテル初のE-car充電ポイントを設置し、新しいサステイナブルな技術へのオープンな姿勢を示しました。ロッホ・メルフォートの環境維持への素晴らしい献身は、グリーン・ツーリズムの銀賞を受賞し、その卓越した環境への取り組みを証明するものです。
